We absolutely adore Festival de Cannes at lola&grace HQ, something about the glitz & glamour of Hollywood mixed with the vintage charm and elegance of the South of France never fails to enchant us year after year. And that’s not to mention the incredible red carpet looks that get rocked on a daily basis throughout the duration of the festival! You may or may not have picked up on the massive surf vibes our summer collection is giving off… From the neoprene details to the Pacific pops of colour and tropical tones, we are all about catching the waves with this collection! So naturally we’ve been looking to some authentic surf sources for inspiration and stumbled across this classic, The Endless Summer.

Not exactly cutting edge, but a vintage classic that has had us dreaming of golden sunsets, warm sands and the soothing sound of waves ever since. The ultimate surf adventure, The Endless Summer is about two young Californian surfers travelling the world in search of the perfect wave. Filmed by legendary surf filmmaker Bruce Brown, it had audiences literally queuing around the block to watch it when it was first released in the 60s. Give the clip above a watch and you’ll see why! There’s not much that Kate Bosworth can’t pull off in the sartorial stakes… Her fashion fearlessness mean that whether she’s rocking an off-duty pair of skinny jeans and a loose vest with ankle boots (in true California style!) or literally shining in an iridescent gold frock finished off with glittering golden jewellery, a cute up-do and pop-pink lips (see above), she always looks amazing. Which is why we have given her the highly prestigious accolade of ‘Golden Girl’, the ultimate style inspiration for our Golden Getaway trend.

Singer/Producer MNEK has been on our radars for a while now. Recently he released a cover of the Disclosure/AlunaGeorge collaboration, ‘White Noise‘. That was a marvelous thing to happen in its own right, but now two of Amsterdam’s finest, Full Crate & FS Green, have teamed up for a remix of the cover. It’s an energetic UK Funky affair that definitely defies the proverb that “too many cooks spoil the broth.”

We were disappointed when Scissor Sisters announced an indefinite hiatus back in October, but we’ve been heartened by more recent news: It looks like they’re putting the band on hold so that the individual members can take on solo projects. The one we’re most excited about at the moment is that of Del Marquis, who’s teamed up with several of his friends to record an album under the name Slow Knights. (One of these friends is a favorite of ours, by the way: Rod Thomas a.k.a. Bright Light Bright Light.) The Slow Knights album, Cosmos, was just released on March 26th. To get you in the proper mood for the full-length, there’s a free download of the first single ‘Shame’, a disco-infused and synth-charged pop anthem.
