Here at lola&grace we are rather partial to a Breton stripe. Like Brigitte Bardot, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Jean Seberg before us we find the classic striped sweater to be the perfect item simply oozing laidback summer style.

The best thing is how versatile Breton stripes are – throw them under a denim pinafore or a sleeveless T-shirt for a casual layered look, or pair them with some electrifyingly bright jeans for a modern take on the sailor look a la Jennifer Connolly. However you style yours up – make sure you wear them with a nonchalant air and an easy hairstyle, and maybe a yacht wouldn’t hurt either!
