London is quite literally where it’s at this summer! And by ‘at’ we mean the Olympics, Queen’s Jubilee, fabulous festivals and an influx of incredible exhibitions all settling in London for the summer. We are spoilt for choice so naturally decided to scout of the thriftiest fun to be had out there and share our favourites with you.
FREE RANGE 28.05.2012 – 16.07.2012
We discovered this colossal display of new creative talent last summer in East London’s sprawling Truman Brewery. Free Range graduate Art and Design exhibition has something for everyone whether fashion if your forte or photography gets you all a flutter, Free Range spans a range of creative disciplines, is completely free and runs for about 7 weeks. There really is no reason not to check it out, and how knows, you may spot the next Mary Katrantzou! www.freerange.org.uk
FIELD DAY, VICTORIA PARK 02.06.2012
What better way to spend the bank holiday at East London’s closest thing to a boutique festival. Field Day is a firm favrouite of ours, putting all the best cult bands and musicians in one place, for one day only. So it’s not free but this year’s the line up is so amazing and so diverse it’s practically impossible not to love at least five acts each making it more than worth the fee. www.fielddayfestivals.com
THE BOOK CLUB: JUBILEE STREET PARTY 03.06.2012
Last year the Book Club played host to a Royal mash up in the form of a free street party and this year it’s happening all over again! Expect pseudo patriots, bunting, and merriment! Find out how to get a free wristband here www.wearetbc.com
OLYMPIC FESTIVAL, VICTORIA PARK 27.07.2012 – 12.08.2012
Victoria Park to us is the epitome of summer in our beloved city. But this year Vicky Park is playing host to the Olympics Festival, huge screens will be set up to show live sports as it happens (amazing) and there will be a host of activities and events arranged to keep all us non-ticket holders entertained! We wouldn’t miss it for the world. Find out more here
